Reading Library to Affirm and Support High Schoolers Mental Health
Help me give my students a library of books to read that is representational and affirming of their diverse backgrounds and life experiences for both their mental health and learning outcomes.

My Project
This is a project to provide my small group special education resource level classrooms with a classroom library that is both representational and affirming for them. This project aims to improve both the mental health and English language arts skills of my students by providing them with rich and interesting stories of characters from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Often, books available at schools are not representative of diverse populations, and it's incredibly important for both the mental health and literacy learning of students to be able to see themselves in the stories they read and learn.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
