My Students

Dr. Seuss once wrote," The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." I am a firm believer of this. If you read and educate yourself, you become more knowledgeable and eager to explore and keep on learning.

My classroom consists of 29 unique students.

They all bring different stories, experiences and knowledge to our classroom. It is a wonderful environment to teach in and to be a part of. However, it is often difficult to keep students engaged in reading when the material is not up to date nor appealing. My goal is to create a library of various series that will engage and relate to each of my students. I want them to want to read in school and on their own time. By the end of the school year, my expectations are that my students will leave wanting to continue reading throughout the summer. Reading is such a crucial aspect of a child's education. It can be a place for children to turn to when they need a retreat, when they Dr. Seuss once wrote," The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." I am a firm believer of this. If you read and educate yourself, you become more knowledgeable and eager to explore and keep on learning.

My Project

I am requesting books such as Katie Woo, Fancy Nancy and Little Critters. I currently have some of the books from these collections, in my library. When my students began reading them, they all fell in love and asked if I had anymore. I felt horrible telling them I did not. I was so proud and excited, when I saw the excitement they had towards these series books.

Adding these books into our classroom library will be a great asset.

These new books will keep them engaged. They will aid in guiding them to become better readers and develop a love for reading.
