Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We start our morning with "Sharing Time". Students talk to one another and then they share their conversations with their classmates. Once they have shared, we begin our day with guided reading, which they enjoy.
My students are first graders from a low socioeconomic community.
They enjoy coming to school and sharing with their classmates. My students are energetic, rambunctious and eager to learn everyday. They enjoy reading in centers and on their own. They like checking books out to read at home, at their desks, or on the carpet.
My Project
Students will use the books to read while in literacy centers to enhance their reading skills. They will also be able to check them out to take home to use for their R.E.D (Read Every Day) program. Students will also be using the books as supplemental literature for topics covered in the curriculum.
The donations will improve my classroom because the students will have access to books they currently do not have.
The books will help enrich their vocabulary as well their knowledge about the topics they will be learning throughout the school year.
