I am a new teacher at L. Middle School. The students that I teach are from a very small town in South Louisiana. Most of their families are very humble and sincere people, and most of them know each other well. They take a lot of pride in their close-knit community, including the education system, which shows in the school's test scores and overall performance. The school is very small, with approximately 350 kids total. There is one teacher per subject per grade, so I will be teaching every student to come through 8th grade. We are currently dealing with a lot of issues with finances in our district, and we need these novels which are not included in the budget.
My students are like a breath of fresh air!
I have never taught kids so eager to learn and succeed. I feel truly blessed to be their teacher.😊
I am in need of the novel Monster for my students. I was able to get a classroom set, but my students will each need a book to take home to study. These books will be returned at the end of the unit for the next school year. We are switching the ELA curriculum, and due to lack of funding, we are unable to get the novels required for each of my students. I really want to incorporate this reading into my lessons this year, not only because it is a great book with numerous valuable lessons, but because it is an opportunity for my students to read a high-interest novel independently and hopefully learn to love to read. We have several things that we will be reading this year as a class, but I feel like the importance of them reading and comprehending on their own is just as vital for success in ELA.
