My students come from many backgrounds. Many are from other countries, finding their way to assimilate to a new culture and environment. Our class has students who are just learning to read and write, and students who are reading many levels above the norm. We have fun learning in an environment of understanding and discovery, at home or in school.
This project is to give us books that can be sent home to guide our learning to read process!!
My Project
This project is for Grade 1 Guided Reading books that the students will read at school during small group instruction and then they will be able to take these books home to read to their families.
This project consists of book sets that will be used to instruct and discuss daily.
Small group instruction is the time when I am able to target the instruction to the students' needs and these books will play a powerful role.
Due to the various backgrounds of our student body, we are in need of materials and tools to narrow the experiential gap of our students, especially those tools which strengthen language development. Our school is an important part of our local community and strengthening our community connection is a priority.
More than half of students from low‑income households
