Help me give my students a relaxed enjoyable reading time to increase their curiosity and increase reading stamina for their successful academic life.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school's third-graders are comprised of 23 extraordinary students who are eager to learn and love to explore new ideas from different disciplines. Most of them are of Hispanic and African American descent and are classified as low-income status families. Over 93% of them qualify or receive free lunch. These third graders are always eager to learn and they love learning things with hands-on experience.
Although they are in difficult circumstances, but they come to school with positive learning attitudes to succeed as independent learners.
However, due to their dire economic and social conditions, most of our students still struggle with their academic growth. My class loves science and reading. They love to touch, see, and feel what they are learning about, while they absorb the knowledge coming from their experiences. Furthermore, my students love reading independently. So, they would love to have a place where they can enjoy reading inside their classroom library.
My Project
By promoting the enjoyment of reading in the classroom whether it be fiction or nonfiction genres, it will increase students' desire to read for pleasure at home. Most of my students have parents that work long hours, and therefore lack family support for continuity of learning at home.
However, providing a separate area for students to relax and discover their interest in the world of books, will definitely cause the students to keep on reading at home.
As students learn to relax and experience the world of stories and amazing discoveries of the world and things around them, students will want to continue exploring when they are at home as well.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
