This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are amazing! As part of a small learning community, they have learned the importance and beauty of building strong relationships with both each other and their teachers.
We are so fortunate to be part of such a vibrant and diverse community that gets to learn and grow together.
My students are strong and determined, not letting anything get in their way.
My hope is to help them continue their love of learning for the sake of learning. As a literature lover and teacher, I want all my students to see the importance of literature to themselves, society and the world.
My Project
These sets of books will help my students become engaged in literature and therefore increase their reading fluency, and by default their writing fluency.
Literature has the power to change lives by showing the value of words and ideas.
I will use these class sets of books to teach and reinforce skills, including literary devices and ultimately produce an essay demonstrating their mastery of literary analysis and close reading.
In addition, we will use the MLA handbook as a class resource to help my students properly cite texts, which will prepare them for college level writing expectations. The set of 10 books and one book of poetry will be used as supplementary material to reinforce themes we are addressing within the class sets.
