This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am a Reading Specialist. I use diagnostic tools to determine the learning needs of my students.
As a result of the data, I create tailored interventions for each student's needs and work consistently with identified students in small groups or one to one to move each toward grade level proficiency.
In order to narrow the achievement gap for each learner, I need access to evidence based educational resources and teaching tools that enable me to teach children "how they learn" effectively.
It is my goal to access decodable text sources that enable students to use their knowledge of phonics and phonemic awareness to turn printed words into sounds. When children are able to decode text, the challenges of reading words lessens, meaning develops and joy is sought!
Being able to provide instruction to a small group of students with materials that are interesting and meets his/her needs will create an opportunity for success. Each learner will be filled with pride and joy.
Successful young readers evolve into productive citizens that are problem solvers, empathetic, creative and lifelong learners.
