Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students love circle time especially when they chose a book that I will read aloud to them. I enjoy it as much as they do. These stories are funny like the zombies that do not eat vegetables or adventurous like magic glasses or classics like Dr Seuss and 3 Little Pigs.

Books are a gateway to imagination and make us feel so many emotions like happiness, surprise or sadness.

These feelings can change a student's attitude that day. Books spark imagination. They can also introduce different cultures and topics that my students may not be familiar with like losing a loved on, etc. Having a variety of books in both their languages makes literacy accessible and hopefully fosters a lifelong love of reading. When students see a lot of different types of books, it creates excitement and encourages them to choose a story that calls and resonates with them. Reading is my jam and I want it to be my student's jam too.
