My Students
My students are really special to me for many reasons. I have a wonderful group of students who come from diverse backgrounds that make them unique. Being engaged in their own learning is crucial for ensuring their success. Many of my students are unable to bring in their own school supplies. I know that they learn best through active and meaningful experiences that they can connect across the content areas and to their own experiences.
I know my students' learning style and that learning by doing is essential for them because it is so highly motivating.
Unfortunately, most of the enriching experiences my students encounter are within the school walls because my students live in high poverty situations. An organized learning environment is essential in order for my students to be able to create freely! My students deserve to learn in the best way possible and that is providing the most welcoming atmosphere is extremely important. I believe that providing them with the materials they need aides in their success.
My Project
Learning through reading is crucial! I want to provide additional seating options for students to use next year during reading time. Students show that flexible seating options benefit students greatly in the classroom.
Studies show that student engagement is maximized when students feel comfortable in the classroom!
This is why it is of the utmost importance that flexible seating arrangements are easily accessible for students, so they can freely move as they learn. Many of my students need to move around as we are learning. The donation of the flexible bands for each seat will be an amazing resource to add to our classroom next year!
Literacy is of the utmost importance. As a teacher, selecting books for your classroom library that students will love is crucial. I am looking to build my classroom library for our Leaders in Literacy time. I cannot wait to see the looks on the faces of my students when they see their new books, seating, flexible desk bands, and dry erase boards!
