My students need a listening center to enhance their ability to increase reading and listening skills.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The listening center and headphones will be utilized to teach students to make choices, attend to a task,(listening to a story, following a song in a book). It will also be possible for them to listen to clues of when to turn the pages and complete an easement of what they listened to and read.
Our classroom is comprised of 10 students with Autism in an inner-city district of Connecticut.
Resources are limited, and our ability to implement strategies to enhance reading and comprehension have been difficult. Our commitment to improving literacy skills is foremost in our instruction. We have strive to be creative with the resources we do have to accommodate the students.
My Project
The focus of our project is a listening center that would engage the student in listening and working independently. It will empower them to make a choices and work independently. The directions given, via the book and CD will enhance their listening, reading and comprehension. The listening center and headphone will be used to listen to books, attend to the auditory story, respond to questions persuading to the story and allow them to engage in an independent activity.
These resources with enhance the growth of our students now and future classes to come.
We want our students to be able to work independently and be able to apply these abilities in all the work ethics.
