My Project
It's officially summertime. The school year has come to an end and it's time to plan ahead for the next school year. Reading instruction has changed district wide and with it has come the introduction of the Science of Reading. After studying SOR for the past two years, I believe that I am finally prepared to take the Reading Specialist Praxis exam to become a licensed Reading Specialist in my school district!
Educational Testing Service, the company that administers the Praxis exam, now has a virtual option, allowing educators to complete the exam from home.
Exam participants are still monitored during the exam, and it is still timed, which attempts to simulate an in-person testing environment. I plan to complete the exam before returning for the school year, providing me with utilizing the summer break to prepare. Not the entire break, though!
The irony in this project is that yearly, students are required to take a standardized test. Often, some students become nervous and I understand where some of them are coming from! To assist me with the test, ETS is providing a free practice exam with the purchase of the test. Hopefully, this will ease any test anxiety.
