This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Remember when you were young and had a favorite author and you couldn't wait until the next new book came out? My kids feel that way about several authors.
I teach a terrific group of inner-city, low income third graders.
They are beginning to love reading and don't have direct access to many books. Although we have books in the classroom, we only have a limited number by certain authors. The kids are forever looking for their new favorite authors and I have to tell them that we don't have any.
My Project
I love to read to the students and they love to hear new books. I have read books to them by Kate DiCamillo, Sara Pennypacker, and Megan McDonald. They loved the books and want to read more from these great authors. When they are interested in reading because of an author or character in a book, they should have the resources to continue to read.
With your help, these awesome kids can continue to enjoy the authors and characters they have learned about and feel as though they know them.
They love Opal, Winn Dixie, Clementine, and Judy Moody. Please help them continue to build a relationship with these characters and authors.
