Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are excited to learn! We need to have the resources to make sure that we are able to learn like many other schools and towns around us. We are a high poverty area in Northern Illinois. My class is very high energy and it takes a lot to get them interested in a subject. Once they get interested, they want to know as much as they can about the subject as possible. My students are also extremely hard workers. They want to do as much as they can throughout the day so they need to have resources available to them.
My Project
My students love to read novels in class. There are not enough books in our class set library that they have not read at this point. We are currently working with a company that teaches the students different skills using theater and drama. The students absolutely love the time that we get to spend with the actors.
The problem is that we have not read the books.
They are so interested in what they are learning, but they are also upset that they would like to read the books that we are covering in class. My students need to get the books so that they can better understand what they are learning about in class.
