My Students

Learning to read is a fundamental part of first grade. Walt Disney once said, "There is more treasure in books than all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island." With these guided reading books I will be able to show the class how fun reading is and how they can use strategies to improve their skills.

My students love to learn and are highly motivated to do their best.

They are working on being independent learners through reading. Many love to be challenged and are working at reading higher level books. We have been focusing hard this year on understanding all the books we read and practicing writing out our answer. Our school provides us many resources to help enrich our learning but we will be able to practice everyday in the classroom with your help.

My Project

We will use these books in our strategy groups during reading time. This guided reading library will help me be able to work with smaller groups of students due to the many different book levels and tiles available. We will focus on different skills and strategies that they are specific to each group of children.

When a child reads well they are more likely to do better in all subjects and areas of life.

We will be helping these students become better citizens and have a higher chance at succeeding in life.
