My Project

I am a special education teacher who teaches both System 44 Reading and Teachtown ELA. As my students are intellectually disabled and have Autism, my kids struggle to read. Providing them with a comfortable place to read will enhance the amount of time they want to spend reading. Everyone who reads knows that the more comfortable you are, the more likely you will read for a longer period. My kids read in their reading groups for up to 40 minutes a day, sitting in a classroom chair is not the most comfortable way to get snuggled into a good book. My students have been in this program for almost a year and they are trying as hard as they can to become better at reading. Helping them be more comfortable will help them try even harder.
