My Students
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.”— Dr. Seuss. “I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!”
I have a wonderful group of 27 first graders!
They are very diverse and are eager to learn each and every day! No matter the economic status and challenges they face, my students come into the classroom everyday smiling and ready to learn. I work in a school that is 95% free and reduced lunch and is highly populated with English Language Learner students. Despite the challenges that most students face, they are still positive and want to learn more!
My Project
My students will be able to use mentor texts, such as A Place for Bats, The Great Gracie Chase: Stop that Dog, and The Boy Who Cried Bigfoot in their lessons to help fine tune their writing and reading skills. Having these books in their book boxes will allow students to learn from the lesson each and every day and will help increase their reading abilities.
If our classroom is able to get these mentor books, we will be able to increase our knowledge in reading and writing.
Students will be given books that they can read. These books will build confidence in students reading and writing abilities and help increase their knowledge.
More than half of students from low‑income households
