My Students

Turn the pages of your imagination, READ! Learning to read can be very difficult for some students. I want to teach students that reading can be fun and exciting.

Have you ever been on a trip or vacation?

Relaxing on the beach or skiing down a mountain? Although most of us can say we have, some of my students may not be able to experience these things. I believe reading gives them an experience to escape from reality and "travel" where ever they wish. My 23 second grade students attend a Title 1 school in South Carolina that has had to deal with many budget cuts over the last several years. Despite the cuts, I feel that my students should still have every opportunity to become lifelong readers.

My Project

These literacy games will allow students to enjoy reading. They will be able to work with their peers to share their reading experience and grow as readers. This will allow students to realize that reading can be fun and not just "work". I believe this will help students want to become better readers. These games will be used in my literacy stations daily. Also, I will use the games during small group instruction and while working one-on-one with my students.

This project is extremely important to me.

My students absolutely love literacy stations because they are able to work with their peers in order to complete reading tasks. I believe these resources will allow me to create fun yet educational literacy stations that allow students to enjoy their reading experiences.
