Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach 4th grade math and science at a Title I school in Tampa, Florida. Over 85% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. We have a high minority and English language learner population, as 69% of the school is Hispanic and 37% are still learning English.
Even with these obstacles, my students can be successful!
With the help of the right resources, they grow and learn at an astounding rate. I am proud to be their teacher!
My Project
By 4th grade, children are reading to learn. However, they need interesting, engaging and fun reading materials to really connect with their learning and the world around them.
Your donation will help provide educational math and science reading materials that my students will want to read.
With colorful illustrations and/or a comic book presentation, these books and magazines will excite my students to learn about the real and natural world. All of these materials directly relate to the topics and standards that are taught in 4th grade, so through an enjoyable activity, student achievement will increase on their standardized tests.
More than half of students from low‑income households
