My students need 30 books of,the "Outsiders,"in order to have a class set for our realistic fiction unit and a bookshelf for the growing library.
This project expired on November 1, 2010.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
As 7th graders, my students are still discovering the life changing impact reading can have on their lives. They are searching for books that interest them, inspire them, and are similar to them. My challenge as an instructor is to find books that lure them into the pleasure of reading!
My students are 7th graders at a middle school.
They are from inner city communities with the mindset that they can and will achieve. Their families as well as themselves are committed to do whatever it takes to make them competitive applicants to the top high schools and eventually colleges.
As an ELA teacher, I am requesting a class set (30 books) of the realistic fiction novel, the "Outsiders." This book is relatable to my students as well as on their reading level. I will be able to instruct my students on reading strategies and concepts while we are reading the same text. My students will discover once more that reading is entertaining and necessary to their future.
I am also requesting a book shelf. As our class library continues to grow we need more shelf space so that the books will remain accessible to the students.
Your donation to my student’s project will allow me as an instructor to better serve my students with the education they need to be successful.
To be successful not only in the 7th grade, but also in getting into the top high schools and increasing their odds of attaining funds to attend college. My students have the drive, they just need the resources. With your help, these reading resources will aid in closing the literacy gap in my classroom.
