My students need to be able to read!
For some of my students, reading is something that has not clicked for them yet. I am looking for more resources to support their learning.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom is comprised of students from all around the world.
We focus on celebrating our individual strengths and diversity.
Within my classroom we are truly one big family. I teach my students to have a growth mindset and we work together to be successful. No two students are alike and my goal is to ensure the best educational experience to all.
I believe in my students and their potential. Over 65% of our students are coming from lower income families. This statistic alone puts them at a disadvantage. I want to continue to help create a positive classroom environment where students can realize that they are capable of anything.
My Project
Reading is an essential part of life and I am looking to support their learning in new ways.
Students need to see themselves in the books they read!
The majority of my students are African or African American. Too often these children only see characters in books that look different than they do. I would like to be able to supplement my classroom library with books that reflect the faces in my classroom.
I would also like to give my struggling readers books that they find more entertaining. I have requested some books that are more popular fiction to hopefully spark an interest in reading.
