My Students

We are a K-8 STEM school. Our students learn the basic concept of engineering in kindergarten and by eighth grade, they are engineering projects.

My students are young readers, who are spunky and eager to read fluently.

I am a first grade teacher and I love helping my students to become better readers. My students come from a variety of backgrounds. What makes them special is their resilience.

At my school, we teach, we learn, and we demonstrate the High Five Habits: Respect, Responsibility, Courage, Compassion, and Perseverance.

My Project

The requested headphones will be used for listening to stories which will help the students to learn pronunciation and intonation. Also, they can record themselves reading in their online portfolio, which will help parents track their student's progress. The whisper phones will help the student to hear themselves read so they can self-monitor and correct their reading.

I am so excited you are considering to help my students become fluent readers.

In my classroom, students working in literacy centers. The items I am requesting will be used in two different centers.

The headphones will go into a listening center for the students to listen to grade-level books. Then the students will have a chance to read and record them reading a passage using their ClassDojo Portfolio. This will allow parents an opportunity to see how their child is progressing in reading at school.

The whisper phone works to concentrate sound waves of the student and direct them to their ear so that what the student hears is a more pure and clear depiction of their voice.

With both of these learning tools, my students reading skills will increase.
