Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten students have been working hard all year. As a STEM school, we have spent a great deal of time learning about the human body and coding! We will soon be studying animals and algorithms, thanks to our science program, PLTW.
We have also been learning foundational skills such as counting, reading, and writing.
My students love to use their individual iPads to use apps such as Amplify, ST Math, Seesaw, Clever, Daisy the Dinosaur, Scratch Jr, and Starfall.
My Project
My students work on a digital reading program that helps them blend CVC words, segment phonemes, and distinguish the first sounds in words. When all students are using the program, it can be hard for students to hear their own device.
If each student had headphones, they would be able to work on their phonics skills to help them become successful readers.
During iPad time, or in the computer lab, each student will use their headphones to access the digital reading program. My students already enjoy learning to read, but with the inclusion of individual headphones, they will love it!
