Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are part of a school that aims to see every student succeed regardless of their background. We work hard to find each child's unique strength and encourage them to use that strength. Our kindergarten is composed of 24 students with diverse language and learning needs. They are a creative, happy, and curious group. They enjoy learning through doing and are amazed by the world around them. They love to create and explore as they learn to become better and better problem solvers.
My Project
Children love books. They love listening to stories and telling stories. These books will help support everyday discussions that we have in the classroom about our feelings, kindness, and diversity.
The books will help students apply social-emotional skills. These skills are so critical to teach in kindergarten and there is no better way than to do it through stories.
These books will also help students celebrate differences and to respect those differences. The books will help students respect people that are different than them, but also to embrace the differences that make us all unique.
