My Students
My students are girls from a high-crime, socially impoverished community in the Atlanta area. I love how they are driven to rise above their circumstances to accomplished great success. We have had a 100% graduation rate for the past two years even in the face of a pandemic. They are resilient, relentless, and resourceful often staying after school and attending Saturday programs to remediate difficult content. They need your help to improve their non-fiction comprehension skills. Thanks for your support!
My Project
Many of my special needs students have lost their skills during this COVID season. They are struggling to develop the skills required to navigate through the pathway complex components to become an effective reader who has strong comprehension skills. They need to increase fluency, decoding, vocabulary, and analyze questions using context clues to provide deeper responses for comprehension questions. Reading plus will allow us to do that together systematically. Thank you for supporting me in this effort to help our students regain lost or suppressed skills. These seeds will continue to grow and develop our students for years to come.
