This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a teacher with EL students I want to give them the opportunity to read books in their native language to help them feel motivated and eager to read. I want to provide them with the option to read a book in Spanish if they feel more comfortable reading books in Spanish! These books will be used for their independent reading log and will allow them to understand, and enjoy what they are reading as well as help them reach their goals. The goal Is to transition them into reading books in English however, having books in their native language in the classroom gives them a sense of belonging and provides them with choice to read books that they are more confident with.
