Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

My gifted students have vivid imaginations. They think outside of boxes and see things that the general population cannot. I am their teacher and I focus on intellectual units rather than academics. Academics come easy to them. I want to stretch their minds.

One way is to provide opportunities to learn about helping others while reading mysteries featuring Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys.

Another is to enjoy reading from other cultures like "Call it Courage." Books create pictures in my students' eyes that help them aspire to see new places and opportunities for themselves.

I want each of my students to reach their full potential and widen their horizons. I think a classroom containing children's classic literature, which our tiny campus library does not have, is a substantial leap in that direction
