This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students come from high poverty/ low-income families who have not been exposed to many of the cool, amazing things the world has to offer. All of them are filled with curiosity and the eagerness to learn as much as their little minds will allow them to. Hands-on experiences are the best ways to keep these students engaged. Just because these students aren't in the best of neighborhoods doesn't mean that they should be deprived of the many materials offered elsewhere.
My Project
My students need great reading materials and exposure to fascinating stories of different genres. The book library needs to be replenished, and nothing piques a child's interest more than a good story that takes them to a world they never could have imagined. Great stories filled with fantasy and action show children the true meaning of possibilities. These types of stories are what helps a child's imagination run wild. It turns them into more creative beings, better writers and the eagerness to pick up a book of their own choosing and continue to read by themselves. These books are essential for a growing mind.
