Help me give my students the basic supplies they need to participate in our reading intervention activities and achieve at grade level including whiteboards, pencils and more.
I teach an incredible group of hardworking students at a public charter school in urban Los Angeles. As the literacy specialist, the majority of my students struggle to read at grade level despite their hard work and love for learning. As a Title I school, nearly every single student comes from a low-income socioeconomic background, making school an especially important resource. In addition, many students are bilingual and are working to learn English as a second language.
Despite these challenges, my amazing students are determined to overcome any circumstances that might get in the way of their academic success and work hard to achieve grade-level reading.
Your support for our classroom projects makes a vital positive difference in the lives of these students!
My Project
As a specialist who teaches reading intervention, and not a classroom teacher, my students don't have regular supply lists that cover the basic supplies we need for our activities. These basic supplies include pencils, erasers, glue sticks, post-its, and dry-erase markers and boards. We use these materials daily to annotate books with our thoughts on post-its, practice sight words and phonics on dry-erase boards, and compose written responses to our reading.
These basic supplies are essential for the reading and writing activities that help my students work toward achieving at grade level.
Your support will allow us to continue to provide this important intervention for these hardworking students!
