This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach English Language Arts at a Title I school in Grove Hill, a rural town located in the southwest corner of Alabama. One hundred percent of our students receive free breakfast and free or reduced lunch.
My students are the "music makers and the dreamers of dreams!" At least, this is what I try to instill in them daily through innovative lessons and STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading/Robotics, Engineering, Art and Math) based learning activities.
They are excited about these opportunities, and would like to experience them more frequently.
My Project
Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body. Reading skills open doors of possibilities for success in other core subjects. However, for those students who do not read as well as others, it causes frustration and could lead to problems in other classes. That is why it is vitally important for non-traditional reading options to be incorporated in the mainstream classroom.
Every child is capable of learning!
As a teacher, it is my job to find the best way to help each child reach his or her greatest potential. Digital technology is a great way to incorporate one on one non-traditional reading instruction to my students. Please help me give hope to my struggling reading students.
