Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a reading intervention teacher, I work with students who are working several grade levels below in their reading skills as well as learners of English. The alphabet letter tubs will help support students in making connections between letters and their corresponding sounds with tangible objects that can be sorted and matched to letters. The objects can also support students in increasing their English vocabulary of common everyday words in an interactive manner. The sight word fishing games will support the rote learning of reading sight words with engaging activities including reading and sorting words. The CVC activities are designed to bridge letter sounds with emergent reading skills by facilitating blending and segmenting letter sounds to create words that can be matched with corresponding pictures. These materials are hands-on and will support small group activities to reinforce skills taught in my K - 5 intervention groups.
