Help me give my students an opportunity to perform with other students their own age. I believe with practice and dedication, my students can be successful and pass the standardized tests.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students come from families who speak primarily Spanish in their homes. Most of my students are migrant students who change districts frequently throughout the year.
My students also come from homes where linguistic supports are lacking.
These students benefit from visuals and hands-on activities that allow them real-life experiences through learning.
I teach at a Title I school that does not provide for many of the school supplies for my students. Many students do not have pencils or journals to write in.
My Project
These books will help the students gain new vocabulary and fluency. These books will allow my students to locate textual information and to draw complex inferences Many of my students read at least two or more grade level below seventh grade. The books will help the students understand and make inferences and draw conclusions about the stories they read. I have chosen notebooks to increase writing skills. Students can explore a world of learning through an interest in books. These books were chosen because they are not on their level, but it will give them increased vocabulary and fluency. I have chosen to request writing journals to allow students to compose written texts with a clear, controlling idea, coherent organization, and sufficient detail.
My students learn by doing.
I have chosen Sharpies so that students can create posters about details in the passages they read.
I believe my students may be successful with more practice with reading to increase comprehension and with writing to make their ideas clearer to the reader.
Students become better readers when they have practice reading; whereas, students become better writers when they practice writing.
