Motivating students to read, and creating a classroom environment that helps facilitate learning, are two of my main objectives as a fourth-grade teacher. I try to create incentives that are intrinsically motivating. It is also imperative that students have easy access to books. My success as a teacher is also dependent on classroom management essentials to help my class run effectively and efficiently.
We have a District-wide goal for at least 60% of our students to achieve typical or above average growth in reading.
I believe I can surpass this goal with additional materials, like books and motivators. There have been several studies that have shown that students are motivated by seeing their own work on display in the classroom. I would like to take a picture of my students when they meet their reading goals. This printer will allow me to do that in a fun way, and the books will help me build my classroom library. A strong classroom library, along with additional motivators, will help me achieve this goal.
I also need some classroom management supplies and math manipulatives. Classroom management is essential to classroom success and these tools will help my classroom run smoothly. The privacy dividers will help with testing and with students who need additional help focusing. The math manipulatives will allow me to help students gain a conceptual understanding of regrouping and fractions. It provides a visual component that some students need in order to fully understand the concept.
