Students have not sat in a desk chair for five months because of COVID-19. I think going back to school, sitting at a desk, and working for several hours a day will be a big adjustment this year. Flexible seating will help me with those students who need a break from their desk. This grant will also help me build my classroom library. Third grade is an important year for reading. Up until now we have been teaching students to read. This year it is my goal to teach students why we read. I hope to instill in them a lifelong love of reading. This classroom library and flexible seating grant would allow students to move away from their desk and read. This seating is very helpful for active learners and students with ADD/ADHD. It will give students an opportunity to get out of their desks on occasion which will be more limited this year because of COVID-19. The books will help me introduce students to various reading genres and expose them to more books.
