My Project

We have recently introduced a new phonics based reading program in our school to give students the skills they need to become better readers. As part of this program, I want to implement a reading incentive program within our classroom to motivate students to read more. To become a better reader, students need to read independently on their own and be motivated to do so. As part of this program I need good books in my classroom, and motivators to keep them going. I will have a bell students can ring every time they finish a book. I also want to take their picture and display it in our classroom once they have reached a certain milestone (10 books, 20 books, 30 books, etc.). Studies show that students prefer seeing themselves, and their own work, on the walls in the classroom. I believe that displaying their picture under their milestone will help motivate them to read more.
