Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My fourth graders are a bilingual bunch that enjoy exploring books in both English and Spanish . They are unique because their brains work twice as much to understand two languages. My students need resources to strengthen their bilingualism. These students reside in the North-west side Logan Square neighborhood.
All of my students are bilingual!
Being bilingual has so many benefits not only for the child, but for everyone surrounding them. This amazing gift has enabled them to understand the world in two different languages.
My Project
The books that I am requesting, such as Too Many Tamales, Nuestra Tierra, and Stink, are for my bilingual fourth grade readers. I want to provide a library that supports bilingualism. My students read in both English and Spanish. These resources will help in developing English Language Learners' reading comprehension and fluency through small group instruction . I need your help in providing books to support the language needs of my students. With new and engaging books titles, students will be ecstatic to read in book clubs and during independent reading time. Students will be able to strengthen both languages with resources provided in both languages. Students will have opportunities to explore both non-fiction and fiction books in two languages!
