This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach second grade at an up and coming school in New Orleans, LA. Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best varies greatly. I try my best to accommodate each of my students. They are all so full of joy and I do everything I can to keep that joy inside of them with engaging lessons. I would love more books in my classroom library. Since my school is a newer school, I don't have any books for independent reading in my class. I would greatly appreciate your help! Thank-you!

My Project

At my school, my students do not have a school library. Since I am only in my second year of teaching, I don't have many books for my classroom library either. Students will have the pleasure of having any book right in their classroom. My students will always be able to have a book right at their desks for any downtime.

Having a classroom library gives my students a chance to explore the world of reading.

Having a book for independent reading time will help improve reading fluency. Also, giving students a chance to choose a book makes them feel more involved in their learning.
