Ms. Hyde from Newark NJ is requesting technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need IPADS to help engage them in reading. I teach an inclusion classroom in 4th grade and have students reading at a Kindergarten level. I need to incorporate technology to keep them engaged!

I work in a school that is at 100% poverty level. My students are so amazing, and I ask for basic donations such as pencils and tissues, but I do not ask for much more given the financial situation most of their families are in. Most of my students are not at grade level with their reading and writing skills. I see students struggle and become disengaged when reading. I am always trying to come up with a new and innovative way to keep my students engaged.
I teach an inclusion fourth grade class at a charter school that is at 100% poverty level. This means that I have both general education and special education students in my classroom.
Although, I teach 4th grade, the majority of my students are reading below grade level.
I have some reading at the Kindergarten level. I notice that I lose engagement for my struggling readers as they become frustrated. I would use the different reading apps on the IPADS to increase student engagement during lessons. I would also love to use the IPADS as an incentive for my students. I want them to enjoy going on the IPADS and use the different apps to create their own book reports. I not only believe that I will see more student engagement but I believe I will have more confident and passionate readers.
I also will use the IPADs with mathematics. There are a lot of programs available and my school uses a curriculum that has an online program available. The only thing my students need is a computer and internet.
