I have the privilege of teaching K4-2nd graders at a Title I school in South Carolina. I love the energy my students bring to class.
I've seen the smiles on my students faces when having a story read to them.
Unfortunately, many of my students come from homes where there are no books for them to read.
My students love coming to PE. I would like for them to experience the joy of reading books about health and fitness in PE.
My Project
I am trying to start a PE library with books related to PE topics such as fitness, sportsmanship, and perseverance.
I would like to incorporate the topics of the books with the PE lessons being taught in my class.
If students are struggling with a sport skill, I can use a book about perseverance to help them to not give up. The books can also be used as a station when I set up various stations around the gym. The requested Dino-Baseball and other books are filled with information to help my students succeed in class and at home.
Learning to play and cooperate during PE time is a valuable life skill that students can transfer to other areas of their lives. Reading about others who may be going through the same experiences in their lives can be inspiring to them.
