My students need 6 wobble cushions, 3 ottoman cubes, 5 laptop trays, 6 wobble chairs and a pack of stools for flexible and comfortable seating in our classroom.
My 50 fifth grade reading students are energetic, creative, full of zest and learn best working together. They love to collaborate and engage in meaningful conversations that drive learning. Students in my classroom learn best through demonstrating voice and choice and taking personal ownership in classroom instruction.
My students learn best when they are comfortable in our learning environment.
There is nothing they love more than to cozy up with a good book and let the words on the page take them away. My students are truly the best and they deserve the best!
My Project
As we all know the human body is not designed to sit all day. Flexible and comfy seating options will help my students to stay focused, engaged and motivated to learn. The rigor of curriculum and classroom instruction is set high for my students. They come ready each morning to learn and meet whatever challenges I set before them. I believe it is important to give my students the opportunity to express voice and choice throughout the day. I believe that when my students have choices they become invested in their learning. Whether it be what book they will read next, how they will assess their learning or which spot to sit in my students thrive when choice is given to them.
Flexible seating options in my classroom will ensure that all of my students will have his or her needs met allowing for learning to flourish.
The wobble chairs and cushions will be a great tool for students to use while sitting, to help them improve focus and academic achievement. The ottoman cubes are not only a great source of storage, but also just the right height for my 5th Graders to sit on. Laptop trays will allow us to utilize our classroom technology wherever students feel most ready to learn. Lastly, the stools offer my students a lightweight, easy to move seat to form cooperative learning groups.
My students have felt and I have seen the many benefits of not only allowing but encouraging choice and flexible seating in our classroom. I want our classroom to feel like home and be a place where learning can occur from any spot. Flexible seating options will help to achieve this.
