Reading In Comfort! Pillows Please!

My students need oversized, comfortable pillows that they can sink into during independent reading time.

My Students

Since the first day they walked into my classroom my students have had a book in their hand every single day. I want my students to have the opportunity to curl up with a good book while relaxing in comfort of these oversized pillows.

I have 25 eager students who come into my classroom every day with a desire to learn.

We have a very diverse student population, and are lucky to have many different ethnicities and cultures represented throughout our school. We have about 750 students, many of whom come from military families, so there is a lot of student movement. My students are a sweet, welcoming, and hard working group of kids who inspire me every day.

My Project

My vision is to have my students use these pillows during independent reading time every day. Since reading is part of my literacy rotations, each group of students will have the chance to nestle into these pillows while nestling into a good book. I just better be careful. They might not want to stop reading because they're not going to want to get up!

I want my students to be life long learners and one of the best ways to do that is to be life long readers.

I hope that providing a comfortable environment for my students to read will help accomplish that. What could be better than sinking into a comfy pillow while sinking into a good book?
