This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is a buzz of activity, focused on giving kids the opportunities that they may not get elsewhere. My 3rd-grade class is in a high-need, low-income public school, nestled in the heart of southern California. Each of the students in my class is a vibrant, excited learner who looks for the next opportunity to gain knowledge.
Each child in my classroom is a unique learner who comes to school each day ready to achieve at the highest levels.
As a teacher, it is my job to make sure the students have access to the materials they need, at all times, as well as use those materials in a way that will facilitate higher learning and achievement.
My Project
My students are always avid readers. However, looking over my library selection, I have found that most of my books are geared towards older children. I would love to have more books available that will meet the different levels of my third grade students.
Through this project, I want to give my students a variety of reading books that are appropriate to their age as well as tap into their interests as growing human beings.
Each of the titles here in this project directly speak to the interests of my third grade students. There are books about what it is like to be a third grader, books that relate to pop culture and the movies and tv shows they are watchings, and books that come in series' to allow students the joy of continued reading with the same characters. The books requested appeal to many different types of readers and will be an excellent, and much needed, addition to our existing classroom library.
