This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom has a wonderful, diverse population of students. They come from many cultures and backgrounds and have varied access to technology at home. Within my classroom of 26 students there are many different needs that I manage and I am constantly trying to differentiate my instruction to reach all of my students.
My school is special because it is a place where everyone comes together to celebrate that diversity and accomplish amazing things.
It is a place where teachers, parents, students, and administrators work together to accomplish learning goals and have fun!
My Project
My inner city school district will be learning remotely until January. I am hoping to allow my students to have access to real reading texts that are on their grade levels that they will be able to read at home. My goal is to be able to recreate my leveled reading groups virtually by using these texts. Many of my students do not have access to the kinds of books that will help to challenge them and push them to be even stronger readers and learners.
By using these real books, my students will be able to access real literature, continue to be engaged, and excited about reading and learning.
I am finding that it becoming increasingly challenging to keep my students motivated. By having their own books to read my students will continue to show what they know, be engaged in their learning, and come through this unprecedented time having learned.
