Students need to be able to access fun, motivating games in order to practice and review basic material. In the special education setting, many students either do not have reading skills or struggle with reading skills that are far below grade level. These games will help students grow and develop the skills necessary to access basic reading in school and adulthood.
My special education students are trying to learn basic and essential reading skills, but they need something more exciting than worksheets.
School can be so boring sometimes, especially when you're struggling to learn the same material you've been working on for years. It is my hope that by adding Fun Friday educational reading games to our weekly routine, students will be able to enjoy learning and achieve greater success in reading.
