My students need interesting books that are on their level and copy paper to be used on projects that go with the books. We need the Worm Whisperer, The Pet War and Half a Chance.

My Students
My students are hungry for interesting books that are on their level. These books are unique in that they have been chosen out of thousands of books to be on the popular Sunshine State list.
I work at a Title I school which means that most of our students receive free or reduced lunch.
We have a mix of many different cultures at our school. Due to the low socioeconomic population at our school most students do not get the opportunity to go to a public library, let alone a bookstore. I promote reading by providing a variety of books that students are able to borrow.
My Project
Students will be allowed to borrow these books from my classroom library. Hopefully, these books will spark a lifelong love of reading. Once students have read these books they will have an opportunity to take an Accelerated Reader test. They will also be able to promote these books by discussing the stories with their classmates as well as making advertisements promoting their favorite books. Recommendations from peers are taken more often than they are from adults.
A classroom set of Sunshine State books will greatly improve my classroom.
Having these books in the students hands will make it easier for students to read them. These books are chosen each year by librarians across the state to promote literacy. The more students read the higher their reading levels will be. Of course, having these books in the classroom will also encourage my students into the wonderful world of reading.
