This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"It's not about what it is; it is about what it can become." Dr. Seuss.
I have the pleasure of working with outstanding children.
They come to school prepared to learn and try their best every day. I teach in a Title I school with a high population of non-native English speakers. Our school is located in a low-income area, with most students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. I focus on the potential and growth of the children in my room. That growth is measured in student joy and love for learning and their engagement in classroom activities!
My Project
First grade students spend many hours practicing reading. I would like to add reader's theater script boxes in two different reading levels to our classroom collection of literacy activities. Children need to have fun when learning to read.
Students will use a drama center everyday to build their fluency, develop a sense of pacing, intonation, and expression while learning and practicing the performing arts!
The masks would be perfect to enhance their performances!
Students would videotape the performances for families to view and enjoy. Thank you for considering our project to support first graders with a performing arts readers theater!
