My Project

First grade is a huge year for learning to read, spell, and write. We spend a lot of time learning our letter sounds, how to sound out words, and how to blend them together.

We are looking for hands-on games that will strengthen our reading skills and make it fun at the same time.

Letter cubes and beads will be used to strengthen both decoding and encoding (sounding out words and spelling) skills. Puzzles will strengthen phonemic awareness (how sounds relate to each other). All of these things together make it possible for kids to read the words in their books. It is tough to learn these reading skills but games would make something that can be really hard into something really fun. Any donation or project share is much appreciated!
