Help me give my students books to extend their reading comprehension. Students will be exposed to this fictional text as well as a combination of nonfiction and poetry to create a well rounded unit.

My Project
Students will read The Bravest Dog Ever: The True Story of Balto as a class. Part of the story will be read out loud, while the students will take ownership of other parts. Students will also read non-fiction texts about dog sledding and the important role it plays in life for some groups of people. Students will grow their skills with reading and comprehending fictional and nonfictional texts as they work through multiple choice style questions, open ended questions, find ways to reference the text using graphic organizers and have a chance to get creative with showcasing their evidence when responding to comprehension questions.
