Reading For Fun

Help me give my students books! I have been building a small collection for two years. Some of the books have gone away with students who have graduated.

Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I love my students because they’re so resilient. It’s not easy to matriculate through Montgomery Public Schools. A lot of our students are here for a second chance. Or, they’re here because they understand the value of an education and having a trade. Our campus prepares them for their careers but also the other components of living independently. I also want to foster self care and leisurely activities that contribute to their mental health, in a good way! I have a small collection of books in my office, that have been donated. I’m so appreciative of the fiction, nonfiction, poetry, art, and photography books I’ve received. I’ve had a few books leave campus, as my students graduate and leave. Please help me replenish my shelves!

Ms. Perkins will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by August 22.
