Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students live in an impoverished area of South Los Angeles. All of my students come from low-income families. We are a Title I school where one hundred percent of our students receive free meals. My students always try their best at everything and anything despite the challenges that they face in their daily lives.
They are already not expected to have it as easy as others, but we learn that with hard work and consistency, they can be "unique" or different from the rest.
My students are so eager to learn that it makes coming to work easy!
My Project
Do you remember what it was like when you finally grasped a concept that was hard for you? The joy you felt and how proud you were. My students need help learning to read! I have 33 awesome students that range from level F to level S.
By exposing children to books at their instructional reading level, they will gain the skills and confidence they need to be readers.
Every child deserves to have appropriate books to read in their classroom. Unfortunately, me being a first year teacher, my classroom library does not meet the needs of my very excited bookworms.
This book set will provide my students with a wide range of books. With this donation, my students will be ensured best practices for reading instruction and will be well on their way to reading success! With your generous donation, my students will enjoy leveled readers that not only will engage them, but will also be at their appropriate reading level, which is crucial for reading success.
